Petroleum Licensing
The council’s Trading Standards section is the licensing
authority for the storage of petroleum spirit in Cheshire. We need
to licence petroleum spirit to make sure those keeping and
dispensing petrol do so in a safe manner that is unlikely to cause
risk to the public or environment

- (Transfer of Licence) Act 1936, known as Petroleum
(Regulations) Act 1928&1936
- The Dangerous substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations
2002.

Fees
Requests for searches of the petroleum files in relation to
information about individual locations are charged at £50. Any
other information requests in relation to petroleum \ explosives
are charged at £25 an hour.
Application Evaluation Process
Petrol must be stored in accordance with certain conditions
attached to a licence that we issue and our aim is to ensure the
observance, maintenance and, where necessary, the improvement of
safety standards.
