Winter Weather Update Wednesday February 17, 4pm
All gritting routes will be salted across Cheshire East from 4pm
today (Wednesday February 17).
This action follows a weather forecast for freezing temperatures
with a chance of snow in places over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office has informed Cheshire East Council that a chance
of snowfall is ‘likely’ in this area with accumulations of 1-3cm in
parts and 2-5cm on higher ground.
Temperatures are set to drop to -7C overnight which could lead
to a build up of ice on local roads and pavements.
The freezing temperatures are set to continue over the next 48
hours.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to take extra care when
making a journey.
Please see below for a breakdown of priority routes:
Priority 1 Routes
These are all ‘A’roads and designated routes to A & E
Hospitals.
Priority 2 Routes
These are other major
commuter roads or ‘B’ roads.
Other Carriageways
The aim is that these
will only be treated to remove ice or snow after all the Priority 1
and 2 routes are treated.
