Elections to the new Cheshire East Council took place on 1 May 2008.

Elections were for wards based on the existing County Council electoral divisions. There are three councillors for each of the 27 wards in Cheshire East, making 81 Councillors in total. 

The next elections are due to take place in May 2011. From May 2008 until April 2009, the Council will act as a "Shadow" Council making preparations for the new Council coming into existence.
