- 27 March 2008 - Publication of Notice of Election.
- 4 April 2008 12 noon - closing date for candidate nominations.
- 8 April 2008 - Publication of Statements as to Persons Nominated.
- 1 May 2008 - elections for Cheshire East Council (as Shadow Council until April 2009).
- 2 May 2008 - election results announced.
- 6 May 2008 - Joint Committee met for final time.
- 13 May 2008 - first meeting of Cheshire East Council.
- Autumn 2008 - appointment of Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executives (Joint Implementation Team’s role reduces).
- 1 April 2009 - "vesting" day for Cheshire East Council - Cheshire County Council, Congleton, Crewe & Nantwich and Macclesfield Borough Council are abolished.
- May 2011 - next full election to Cheshire East Council.
